Our need was for a second upstairs bathroom which meant a dormer installation. From the first visit to the final handover the work was undertaken with efficiency. We extended the original proposal for the dormer to provide a bathroom and included a bedroom extension. The objective was more than achieved as the extra space enhanced the original property.
Simon Lawrence is a company we can highly recommend to undertake the complete package from original survey, through planning, construction and fit-out. His staff and the trades they employ are all courteous and make every effort to keep any mess to a minimum – some of which is inevitable, but cleaned on departure. Simon is very accommodating to changes should they be desired after initial discussions and keeps within budget. Simon Lawrence as a company are very professional in their approach and execution. From first impressions to completion one could not expect better. Upon completion a bouquet of flowers and thank you for the opportunity to work is a highly unusual, but very satisfying work ethic these days.

My husband and I chose Simon Lawrence LTD purely based on gut instinct and with consideration as to who we felt we would mind least being in our home for eight weeks. "Back in May we engaged the services of Simon Lawrence Ltd to do a loft conversion. The plan was to complete in 7weeks subject of course to unforeseen problems. Simon Hodson was in charge and had already decided to cut the weather out of the equation by having a fully enclosed structure which would allow work even in inclement weather. The weather still had its influence, in that the week we were planned to start was so wet and windy that it was unsafe to erect the scaffolding…. So finally it went up a week later and the job got started.
Loft conversions are by definition invasive, not like building an extension then knocking through to say hello here’s your new space and making a mess for a day. The team stacked and tidied the materials, and brushed up each night making it feel less messy. It might be a minor point, but one you notice as you go about your daily business and see all the other work around the neighbourhood then the comparison kicks in. It also helps with your immediate neighbours who are also living the experience of the temporary visitors, their suppliers and deliveries.
Getting to the nitty gritty of the job and the conversion. Simon and the team were all polite and helpful but most of all knowledgeable and skilled at their trade. The ‘on site decisions’ (and there were not many) were made easy as Simon had a couple of suggestions ready to discuss, all of which made sense technically and in all cases commercially. The carpenters were the resident trades assisted by the brickie, plumber, plasterer and electrician.
As a team they gelled well and helped each other as much as was necessary when required. The final product took shape and we are pleased to report a job well done, just about on time with the only surprise being the new circuit break panel courtesy of our old one and a new electrical shower in the loft. Along the journey the craftsmanship of the various skills were there to see with the biggest proportion in the build of the roof extension and fitment of the five Velux windows to throw lots of daylight into the new space. There is no space left to convert, but if there was I now know who to call and book the job to. An experience to remember and not forgetting the banter along the way."
